Howdy! The second release candidate for WordPress 3.2 is now available. If you haven’t tested WordPress 3.2 yet, now is the time — please though, not on your live site unless you’re extra adventurous.
We’ve handled a number of issues since RC1, including additional Twenty Eleven tweaks, a new theme support option for defaulting to randomized headers, and various RTL fixes.
Plugin and theme authors, please test your plugins and themes now, so that if there is a compatibility issue, we can figure it out before the final release. Users are also encouraged to test things out. If you find problems, let your plugin/theme authors know so they can figure out the cause. If you are testing the release candidate and think you’ve found a bug, there are a few ways to let us know:
To test WordPress 3.2, try the WordPress Beta Tester plugin (you’ll want “bleeding edge nightlies”). Or you can download the release candidate here (zip).
If any known issues crop up, you’ll be able to find them here. If you’d like to know which levers to pull in your testing, check out a list of features in our Beta 1 post.

PCSS is a PHP(5) library that allows us to write CSS(3) code with a simpler + shorter syntax and brings awesome features like server-side browser specifics, class nesting, default unit and variables.
As the CSS is preprocessed on the server-side, every designer's dream: "dynamic CSS" comes true and variables can be used easily.
The rules being processed on the server-side also helps avoiding redundant commands (like many "-webkit", "-moz", etc.) as only the rules needed for the browser will be generated.
Using the library, we can set a default image directory and default unit (em or px) to prevent rewriting them again and again.
There are also shortcuts provided for @font-face usage and nesting of CSS rules.

For any website/web application that expects an action from its visitors (like "filling a form" or "making a selection") or help them browse the way required, offering an online guide can be a good idea.
Guiders.js, a JavaScript library developed and used by the popular A/B testing service Optimizely, is recently open sourced and enables us to create flexible guiders.
The guiders are in the form of a dialog box, they can be attached to an element or centered on their own and positioned however we want.
Custom event handlers can be used to hide and show guiders. This makes interactively showing the user how to use your software by having them complete steps possible.
It requires jQuery and very easy to setup by simply creating the list of guiders, ordering them and attaching the events we want to each.

With their increasing popularity, we are seeing more and more CSS sprite generators everyday.
Sprite Cow is another one which is open source and works very effective by auto-recognizing the different elements inside a single image.
So, you design the sprite image in your favorite imaged editing application, upload it to Sprite Cow and simply click (or click + drag) on each element to get their width, height and background-position as a CSS rule.
The application can select items in any size and also gives you the option of changing the background color.

One of the most tedious things (to me) about writing a new computer program is writing the code to manage its user
interface. The programs listed in this new
Free GUI Builders and Application Builders
page will let you design your graphical computer program easily, by using a point and click interface. The software will then
generate the source code for you, freeing you to work on the important parts of your program. Some of the programs can
even generate cross-platform code, which means that you can create programs that run on multiple systems (like Windows,
Mac OS X, Linux, etc).
A new Pascal compiler has been added to the
Free Pascal and Delphi Compilers
page. Pascal is a general purpose computer language originally created to teach students programming.
The new addition is a cross compiler for PIC microprocessors (but you can find other Pascal compilers on
the page if you're just looking for a Windows, Mac or Linux compiler).

Overlays are used widely when we need to block HTML elements or the full body and transfer the attention of the user to a specific point.
There are high-quality plugins for creating overlays but most of them come with Lightbox or modal dialog capabilities and sometimes all we need is only the overlay.
Simple Overlay is a flexible and lightweight jQuery plugin that can display the overlay using jQuery's fade effect, slide effect or no effect at all and can be improved further with built-in CSS hooks like CSS3-glossy effects.
The overlay can also be customized more by setting its color, opacity level, whether it'll be removed with onClick and more.
Thanks to custom callbacks, any functions can be fired after onShow and onHide events.

Earlier today the WordPress team noticed suspicious commits to several popular plugins (AddThis, WPtouch, and W3 Total Cache) containing cleverly disguised backdoors. We determined the commits were not from the authors, rolled them back, pushed updates to the plugins, and shut down access to the plugin repository while we looked for anything else unsavory.
We’re still investigating what happened, but as a prophylactic measure we’ve decided to force-reset all passwords on WordPress.org. To use the forums, trac, or commit to a plugin or theme, you’ll need to reset your password to a new one. (Same for bbPress.org and BuddyPress.org.)
As a user, make sure to never use the same password for two different services, and we encourage you not to reset your password to be the same as your old one.
Second, if you use AddThis, WPtouch, or W3 Total Cache and there’s a possibility you could have updated in the past day, make sure to visit your updates page and upgrade each to the latest version.

Today, videos are a significantly large part of the internet content. Not only websites like Youtube or Vimeo but services like Netflix or Hulu and much more support this rise.
Videola, an open source video management and delivery platform built on Drupal, can easily help creating a video-based website with users and even e-commerce being a part of it.
