For MySQL users, phpMyAdmin -the popular MySQL admin tool-, is probably one of the most-used apps unless you are fan of a desktop MySQL admin tool.
MyWebSQL is an exciting open source alternative to both as it is a web-based MySQL (and SQLite) manager with a desktop-like functionality.
It is built with PHP and, with the help of a completely Ajaxed interface, tasks can be accomplished pretty quickly.

Creating, editing and deleting tables or records are easily done in a grid mode which also makes working with multiple items at the same time possible. Also, shortcuts for any actions exist inside context menus to make browsing faster.
There are other must-have features like import-export, SQL editor (with syntax highlighting), repair tables, search, process manager, etc.
MyWebSQL is a multilanguage app with lots of ready-to-use languages and has a themable interface.
Imho, what is missing the most is the ability to manage multiple server connections with a single login and scheduled tasks (which I hope would exist in the future versions).

Testers, Beta 3 is now available! You know the drill: use a test install, see what you can break, and report any bugs you find. There have been 200 commits since Beta 2, but at this point, betas are not adding new features — it’s all about fixing bugs, making things a little prettier, and editing text strings.
As always, plugin and theme authors, PLEASE test your code against the beta so you can catch any incompatibilities now rather than after your users update their WordPress installation and find bugs for you. This time we really mean it, especially if your plugin uses jQuery. We’ve now updated to jQuery 1.7 in core, so please please pretty please check your plugins and themes against beta 3.

MQFramework is a responsive CSS framework that uses the @media property (media-queries) and works perfectly on major screen sizes down to mobile.
The framework is based on a 12 column-grid and includes a typography stylesheet to handle the basics and a CSS reset.
It is simply a core for building responsive websites which you usually wouldn't need to change any part of but add your own styles on top of it.
MQFramework is a very easy to implement and there are 2 versions provided to choose from: fluid + fixed.

Minimit is a very flexible jQuery plugin for creating any type of content sliders including galleries, slideshows or carousels.
It is good fit for designers/developers who wants to build completely custom outputs as the plugin covers all the logic required but asks you to to code all the animations and the CSS.

Gridlover is a free to use web application for creating a type system with modular scale and vertical rhythm.
Inside a page with major HTML tags for type like headings, lists, paragraphs or article, it allows playing with values like:
- body font size
- body line height
- scale factor
- sizes for each element
- the unit desired (px, rem or em)
and keeps everything tidy by scaling them accordingly. Once you are set, it outputs the generated CSS rules for use.

SCM Music Player is an open source and web-based music player application that is built on top of the popular JavaScript sound API: SoundManager.
The player sits on the top or bottom of web pages, has support for playlists where listeners can easily choose from and plays MP3, MP4, RSS podcasts or Youtube playlists.
Multiple skins exist to choose from and few options like default volume, autostart or shuffle playback helps helps customizing it more.
By default, the player would work as an external player from the domain of the resource however, it can be downloaded and installed on your own domain pretty easily.

What is MONYog?
MONyog is a Windows and Linux compatible desktop application for easily seeing every detail about a MySQL server and fine tuning variables.
The application displays a nicely formatted "slow query log" for finding out the queries effecting the performance of your apps so you can improve them and check back again.
MONyog is not only a reporting tool but also an advisor. It analyzes the setup of a MySQL installation, tells the possible problems (including security issues) and how to make things better.
The variables like InnoDB cache, thread cache, table cache, index usage (how effective they are), the number of each statement (select, insert..) and many other sub-metrics can be tuned perfectly using the application.

News tickers are a widely-used for displaying content (specially the titles that forward readers to a detailed version) in a tiny space
jQuery News Ticker is a very nice plugin, inspired from the BBC news ticker, that simplifies creating them.
It can get the content from an unordered list, RSS feed or an HTML file and show it in a simple-yet-slick interface (the interface can be totally customized).
There are prev-next and play-pause controls for quickly navigating through the items and few settings exist like:
- speed of the effects
- effect type (reveal or fade)
- direction (left-to-right or right-to-left)
- display duration of each item
- and more..
P.S. Loading from a RSS feed can only be done if the feed is in the same domain with the ticker

Transitions in CSS3 brings many possibilities on animating and morphing HTML elements.
Lea Verou is sharing a beautiful experiment and resource -Animatable- that showcases different CSS transitions (and how simple they are).
Each transition is applied to a box where you can activate by hovering them (or run the transitions for all items).
You can also click the items to easily see the "from" and "to" values of CSS properties changed.
