A new open source library has been added to the
Free Compression and Archiving Libraries and Source Code
page. Programmers who want their applications to be able to compress data (and of course restore it back to its original size)
can simply use the functions from this library without having to reinvent the wheel. The library provides you with
an assortment of well-known compression algorithms that you can use.

loadUI is an open source, cross-platform and free load testing tool that supports all the standard protocols-technologies.
With a slick, drag 'n' drop interface, it allows us to create new tests and fine tune every detail very easily.
The tool consists of various components that play with each other very well like statistics, scheduler or analytics components.
loadUI can send multiple requests from a single machine or the requests can be distributed across any number of remote machines by installing agent apps to them for a real-world simulation.
Multiple tests can be ran at the same time, the details of each test can be viewed live and it is possible to compare them with previously-ran tests.

The Semantic Grid System is a fresh approach to CSS grids which allows us to define column-gutter widths, choose the number of columns and switch between pixels and percentages. And all these without the -kinda ugly- .grid_x classes used in the markup
It is built by Tyler Tate, the developer of the popular 1KB Grid and powered by Less.js (the dynamic stylesheet language).
The grid system is responsive as well and manipulating it using media queries is very easy.
There is also a detailed introduction of Semantic.gs in Smashing Magazine that is written by the developer himself.

Spin.js is a tiny JavaScript library that enables us to generate loading/activity indicators without any images.
It creates the UI with CSS3 (VML in Internet Explorer) and works in all browsers (even in IE6).
The spinners can be customized in several ways like setting the number of lines, their color, length, width, radius, speed of the animation and the trail effect. Such a flexibility ends up in many possible variations.
And, Spin.js weights only 1.7kb gzipped which is smaller than an animated GIF file in most cases.
P.S. Although, it is a standalone library, there is an optional jQuery provided.
